Cloud Security

Cloud security in Nepal is growing rapidly as businesses move their data to platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. However, the approach is often focused on basic access, such as setting up a password and a firewall. Many Nepali companies use the cloud to host websites or apps for international clients, but they often struggle with “misconfigurations”—simple errors in the settings that accidentally leave private data exposed to the public internet.

Globally, the 2025 trend is focused on Cloud-Native Application Protection Platforms (CNAPP). This is a unified approach that secures everything from the code developers write to the servers running the app. Instead of using ten different tools to check security, companies use one platform that sees everything. A huge focus is now on “Data Sovereignty,” which ensures that even if data is stored in the cloud, it legally remains under the control of the country where the user lives.

Another critical global development is Machine Identity Management. In modern cloud setups, different parts of an application “talk” to each other using digital keys, not human passwords. Hackers now target these keys because they are often less protected. While Nepali security teams are busy protecting employee login details, global teams are using AI to protect the thousands of non-human “service accounts” that keep the cloud infrastructure running.
